Why it matters

What this does to artists

Makes electronic contracts, signatures and records legally effective. This is the answer to whether a deal done over WhatsApp or a licence signed with a typed name is binding: usually yes.

Watch this

It does not apply to instruments that must be under seal, and it is expressly excluded for wills, trusts and powers of attorney.
