Why it matters

What this does to artists

Governs any assembly, which on the authorities' reading can include a performance, a gathering, a vigil or a participatory work in a public place. Notice requirements and prohibitions on assemblies at prohibited places are the operative parts.

The Federal Court struck down s.9(5) as unconstitutional in 2021; the notification requirement in s.9(1) survives.
